Please join us as we mark the anniversary of the Battle of the Wilderness, fought 160 years ago. Civil War Historical Impressions, Inc. and Friends of Wilderness Battlefield are joining forces to present this special event. This will be a fantastic weekend marked by an opportunity for the public to visit with living historians portraying famous participants in the battle to include General Grant, and many members of his command. There will be the opportunity for the young and the not so young to interact with participants who will answer your questions concerning weapons, military life, uniforms and actual combat. There will be a full field hospital and various maneuvers throughout the day. Bring the entire family and explore the way as it was in 1864. The event is free and open to the public. Donations are always welcome and appreciated.

Sponsoring An Educator
In addition to our scholarship grant for a high school student, this year, along with the Lake of the Woods Civil War Study Group, we are co-sponsoring an educator to attend the American Battlefield Trust National Teacher Institute. The cost of the weekend is yet to be determined in detail, but the grant from the two organizations will cover air fare, lodging and food. This year, the institute is being held July 11-14, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana! The theme is "How the Leaders of the Past Shape the Leaders of Tomorrow."
The annual National Teacher Institute brings together educators from all over the world. This three-and-a-half-day event includes breakout sessions, workshops, lectures, and tours from some of the leading experts in the history and education fields.
FOWB is honored to assist educators in this great opportunity! For more information on this event, please see:
