Some of our Service Projects

• Adopt-A-Highway cleanups on roads throughout the battlefield.
• Maintain Park markers on Wilderness Battlefield by repainting and detailing.
• Maintain Park monuments on Wilderness Battlefield by cleaning and painting.
• Maintenance of Park walking trails on Wilderness Battlefield.
• Maintain earthworks on Wilderness Battlefield.
• Rebuilt bridges on Wilderness Battlefield with lumber obtained through a grant from Georgia Pacific
• Raised money to help purchase four interpretive panels placed at Willis Hill.
• Won a grant from the American Battlefield Protection Program to erect three interpretive panels at Grants Knoll. (Grant's headquarters during the Battle of the Wilderness) and five interpretive panels at Ellwood (General Warren's headquarters during the Battle of the Wilderness).
• Created access to Grant's Knoll.
• Cleaning and painting of Wilderness Exhibit Shelter on route 20 in Orange County.
• Conducted fund raising with proceeds donated to Central Virginia Battlefields Trust to purchase endangered battlefield land.
• Removal of deteriorated fencing at Higgerson Farm on Wilderness Battlefield.
• Site maintenance of Ellwood. Grounds crew formed for this specific purpose.
