Battlefield by participating in one of the events conducted throughout the year.
Events and activities are free unless otherwise noted. Ellwood Manor is open
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Details for specific events will be
posted as they develop.

May 19-20: Reenactment of the Battles of Spotsylvania
May 19-20, Battles of Spotsylvania, 2012 Civil War Reenactment and Living History event
Memorial Day Weekend Activities
        All activities will be held at Ellwood Manor, Wilderness, VA and are open to the public with no admission fee. Donations are always welcome.
       Ellwood Manor opens for tours at 11 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m.The times and brief descriptions of the special activities are listed below.
Saturday, May 26
 1 – 1:45 p.m.Plantation “Walkabout,” led by archeology technician Dale Brown.Includes the ice house site, the carriage exit trail, Parker Store Road, and a portion of the proposed trail from Ellwood across the Wilderness Run to the location of the old Wilderness Tavern.
 2 – 2:45 p.m.Concert of Civil War Music by Evergreen Shade
 3 – 3:45 p.m.Talk by National Park Service historian Frank O'Reilly:"The Last Days of
Stonewall Jackson"
 4 p.m.Memorial Readings will be presented on Ellwood's newly restored second floor by interpreters.Hear the stories of Artilleryman Edward Cooper, the four sons of Mrs. Agnes Allison, Corporal William Stowe, and Colonel John Patterson.
Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28
 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Ellwood Manor is open for visitation.
 
August 12: Commemoration of Lafayette's Breakfast

September 30: Taming the Wilderness
Location: Ellwood Manor at Wilderness, Virginia

Description: An 18th century living history event with hands-on demonstrations of the late 18th and early 19th century building methods and domestic practices
  
December 15: 19th Century Christmas
Location: Ellwood Manor at Wilderness, Virginia

Description: Ellwood Manor hosts an entertaining and educational visit with a 19th century Santa and tours of the seasonally decorated house. The event also features period music and readings.
