This is the first view of Ellwood that you see from the parking lot. This is the back of the house. The ground in front of the house slopes down to Wilderness Run. Private farmland is on the other side of Wilderness Run. As you drive in to Ellwood, you pass through cultivated fields. The National Park Service leases out these fields to a local farmer.
The Ellwood grounds are maintained by Friends of Wilderness Battlefield volunteers in the "Ellwood Ground Force".
